Hey Everyone,

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

this is the journey of
surviving through poetry
this is the blood sweat tears
of twenty-one years
this is my heart
in your hands
this is
the hurting
the loving
the breaking
the healing

This collection of poems is fantastic. I originally got it because of the bookstagram hype, I had seen it on multiple bookstagrammer pictures and it became a curiosity as to why this book is getting so much recognition.

This collection of poems is mostly centring around the emotions of a feminism, abuse, violence, loss and love. The book is separated into 4 sections titled the hurting, the loving, the breaking and the healing. Each section has a collection of poems relating to the four different themes, some are short and some are long but it is the fact that it is personal and meaningful, get ready for an emotional ride.

I strongly suggest that you pick this book up because it is absolutely fantastic.

Here are some poems from Rupi Kaur that I really liked the most.

“every time you
tell your daughter
you yell at her
out of love
you teach her to confuse
anger with kindness
which seems like a good idea
till she grows up to
trust men who hurt her
cause they look so much
like you

- to fathers with daughters”

“most importantly love
like it's the only thing you know how

at the end of the day all this
means nothing
this page
where you're sitting
your degree
your job
the money
nothing even matters
except love and human connection
who you loved
and how deeply you loved them
how you touched the people around you
and how much you gave them”

Hope you are having a lovely day

See you soon
